The Stream

Co-creating a world of oneness, accountability and mutual support

People thrive from empowering themselves and one another. In the U.S., our current society works against that.  We need an inner, social and economic revolution for us all to achieve our potential as individuals and as a nation.

- Beth Green, founder

Is This Where You Belong?

We are The Stream, a nonprofit organization. Our weekly livestream, Building the World We Want, focuses on what is emerging from our battered world. Beyond resistance, it focuses on what people are already co-creating to meet the needs of people and the earth, which is perhaps the very infrastructure of the future we want, reflecting our deepest commitment to a nurturing and equitable world. Building the World We Want is livestreamed every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm Pacific time and is then available on video thereafter. We invite you to join us by watching, sharing and commenting on our livestreams on YouTube (@bethGreenTV) and Facebook (facebook.com/GrannyRocksOn) and other platforms. Perhaps you would be a great guest, bringing us a story of what you and others are doing. And consider participating in our other activities.

For decades The Stream has been a sanctuary for people who believe in the need for an inner revolution – embracing principles such as oneness, accountability, and mutual support. And we continue to embrace that mission. However, the current state of our nation is compelling us toward a broader thrust. We have always recognized that the economic system under which we live is based on ego, competition, power and money. And in recent years we have also seen the rise of income inequality, corruption, authoritarianism, misogyny, racism, climate and environmental degradation and more. The time to act is now.

The current system is failing us and the earth, and who will save us? Not the powerful forces who are benefitting from the current system and perpetuating it. No, we are going to be saved and inspired by individuals and groups across the nation and world who are increasingly resisting our cruel and authoritarian administration and who are planting the seeds of the world we want to live in. Co-ops, responsible and equitable businesses, visionaries in the arts, people revolutionizing relationships in their families away from hierarchy and domination, and more, we are building the world we want. We are not an organization, we are an organism comprised of diverse efforts whose intentions are in alignment: the intention to build a better world for everyone.

Let Building the World We Want be a support for this movement. Let’s use our podcast as a means to communicate with one another. Perhaps some of you can come on our show and talk about what you’re doing in your home, your community or your field of interest. Big or small, we all count. In addition to a variety of videos and livestreams The Stream offers other livestreams, including empowering music, and a powerful programs including group experiences and counseling, events, teachings and whatever might be useful to promote the inner and outer revolution we all need.

Our Beginnings

One day in 1980, our founder Beth Green discovered her “inner voice,” an intuitive knowing that guided the rest of her life. Having been a social activist, worker and atheist, she was totally amazed, but suddenly she had intuitive access to information beyond her education and experience, and it worked. She immediately started using this gift to help people, first as a counselor, then as a spiritual teacher, author, workshop leader, blogger, podcaster and musician. In 1983, that inner voice told her to call her work The Stream, the process of becoming who you already are. And so we started.

A Little of Our History

In 2001, we became a nonprofit organization, dedicated to educating people about the principles of Oneness, Accountability and Mutual Support and promoting the transformational processes in Beth’s seminal work Living with Reality. We have offered counseling, trainings, workshops, retreats, even an Internet radio program called Inner Revolutionary Radio, which has evolved into our Facebook and YouTube livestreams. We are committed to delving deeply into ourselves and others, revealing the causes of our destructive and self-destructive behavior and providing tools and techniques that can liberate us.

Our Current Focus

Today, still under the leadership of Beth Green, we remain true to our calling, but we have evolved as well. In light of the current political, social and emotional environment, we are expanding from focusing on the inner revolution to focusing on all three – inner, social and economic revolution – and the connection among them. Here is our fundamental premise:

The purpose of any society and every economy is to meet the needs of people and the earth. Unbridled capitalism – the economic system under which we live – fosters ego, self-centeredness, competition, insecurity, exploitation and gross income and power inequality. People are turned against one another, brainwashed to believe that we thrive through disempowering others. We feel compelled to acquiesce to societal norms that hurt us physically, emotionally and spiritually. We are losing touch with ourselves.

Let’s fight for the world we want!
